Buy-in
- The minimum cost to play
bingo. This varies by bingo hall . At Sunset Bingo,
the buy-in is two packets, which typically cost either
$4.00 or $6.00 depending on the session. "Special
sessions" may differ.
CHAMPS

The full color handsets used at Sunset Bingo which "daub"
and keep track or all your bingo cards for you. The
common name for electronic
bingo.
Dauber
- A tube of transparent ink for marking bingo cards.
Flashboard
- The board containing illuminated
numbers that show the numbers called during a bingo
game. Sunset Bingo has ten Flashboards around the hall
for the regular games, and two more for the Bonanza
games.
Free
Space
- The space in the middle
of all bingo cards that is “free” to the
player and is considered “called.” Free
spaces usually count towards winning a bingo game. Some
bingo games are won by playing “the hardway”
or without the benefit of the Free Space.
Mark
75
- A type of throwaway card that has every number from
1 through 75 on each sheet. Each number appears one
time only on Mark 75s.
Monitor
Bingo
- A bingo game in which the number in the monitor (i.e.,
the next number to be called) after a bingo has been
won is called. Prizes for Monitor Bingo are announced
in advance, and vary depending on the session being
played.
Pattern
Games
- A design that can be drawn on a bingo card and is
declared the pattern to win a particular bingo game.
Dozens of Pattern Games can be played.
Throwaways
- Games not included in regular buy-in packets. Any
one of several extra bingo games that are played during
a bingo session. See Earlybirds,
Late Games and Bonanzas.
Work
Up Games - Games
that are played enroute to a blackout. The caller identifies
the type of Workup game or games to be played at the
beginning of the blackout game. Since blackouts usually
take 55-65 numbers before a player bingos, the Workup
Games are ones that are usually won in less than 40
numbers.
