About Today's Bingo (top)

Almost everyone has played bingo at one time or another. Five numbers in a row makes you a winner!

That's still true for today's bingo, but a lot of variety and different kinds of games have been added to the fun.

Bingo is played in sessions, which generally last from two to three hours. Players must buy at least two packets of bingo games for each session. Games are played on traditional paper, or on hand-held computers

A packet consists of six bingo cards that can be played on each of 15 regular games. During a bingo session, four-to-five special games are also played, such as Blackout and other pattern games.

At Sunset Bingo, bingo sessions are preceeded by Earlybird Games and are followed by Late Games. Doors open about an hour before the Earlybirds are played. Earlybirds start approximately 30 minutes before the regular session begins. Late Games are played immediately after the regular session, and also last about 30 minutes.

Here's how you get started:

When you arrive at the bingo hall follow the red floor tiles to the office.  Our staff will help you there with your buy-in.  The minimum buy-in is two packets per person. The minimum cost is typically $2 or $4.  You will receive 12 bingo cards for each of our 15 regular games.  This buy-in also entitles you to purchase any of the special games.

While at the office you"ll want to pick up the format sheet of today's games.

If you're playing bingo on paper packets, you'll need a heavy pencil, pen, or other type of marker to cover up your numbers on your bingo cards. Most bingo players use an ink marker called a "dauber." You can purchase a wide variety of daubers at the Lottery Stand.

Find a comfortable chair in either the smoking or non-smoking area, and get ready for us to call your numbers.

Your packets are good for 15 regular games. There are seven ways to win a regular bingo. To add to the fun, we have other games called Earlybird Games, Special Games (link) and Late Games. You can buy extra bingo cards to play these games for $1, $2 or $3 (depending on the session you are playing).

Be sure to yell loudly when you have a bingo, and wait until the number has been called (not when it is visible in the monitor). Your bingo must have the last number called, so stay alert and listen!

Have a question? Our staff is always glad to help. Or ask someone sitting nearby - bingo players are some of the friendliest people around.
